TRAININGS
Peacebuilding From Within
This 20-hour foundational training is for anyone who is interested in integrating a trauma-informed lens into a movement practice or daily life. Participants who have experienced the benefits of this modality include yoga instructors, classroom teachers, mental health professionals, medical practitioners, and bodyworkers.
Training Pre-requisite: Curiosity.
You do not have to be a certified yoga instructor to attend.
While this training is a pre-requisite for the 300-hr TCTSY Certification Program with the Center for Trauma and Embodiment, it can stand on its own as a general framework to apply within diverse contexts (medical, humanitarian, school, daily life, etc.) by applying the therapeutic themes and treatment goals.
Training participants will access tools for understanding the impacts of stress and trauma on the nervous system and how this practice could facilitate peace building from within, through mending bodies and nervous systems - learn to foster this anti-oppressive approach to healing through the application of a trauma-informed lens. Developing an understanding of complex trauma, attachment theory, and the neuroscience underpinning the TCTSY methodology, participants foster skills to facilitate a movement and breath practice that could support healing from long term trauma.
Although the workshop emphasizes skill development and is facilitated in a respectful and professional manner, it can be emotionally, physically, and intellectually demanding. We recommend creating a self-care plan for the weekend, as there is the possibility of being triggered by course or discussion content.
