We’re wired for connection, but it doesn’t mean we feel that connection. Too often many of us feel isolated and alone, anxious, disconnected from who we are or want to be and disconnected from others.  You might be navigating a transition in life, challenges in a relationship dynamic, a health condition. You might have a longing for things to change, maybe to feel at home in your own skin, to evolve but instead there is a feeling of being stuck.  Change, healing, self discovery, and transitions don’t have to feel overwhelming or exhausting.

You don’t have to do it alone.

Counselling provides a brave space to feel, discover, and grow.

Consider an experience of change with greater ease, coming into alignment with your self worth, fostering your body and brain connection to embody presence, connection, kindness?

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

Anais Nin

This is an invitation to take steps towards your becoming and belonging through choice, vulnerability, and movement. Together, we engage with a trauma-informed approach offering opportunities to get to know your nervous system, to build your connection between body and brain through generative practices and curiosity. This is a space to befriend your body and clarify your sense of self, to gain some access to feeling calm and clarity in your thoughts.  I take time to meet you where you’re at, to walk alongside you while you reclaim and gain direction for your life.

How I can serve you.

As a counsellor, I support you getting to know the internal landscape of your nervous system, a physiological place that over the years has likely developed intelligent coping strategies and patterns to protect you and keep you safe. Your nervous system strategies can impact your thoughts, emotions, sensations in your body, how you relate to others and the world, who we believe ourselves to be and more. Together, there is an opportunity to engage in different practices with curiosity to support the integration of these patterns and trauma responses. This journey can be uncomfortable at times, as well as resourcing and settling.

I am available to walk alongside you, listening for the wisdom that is already there, offering reflections and questions to support you experience something different. This can be done online, over the phone, or while you are outdoors in nature.

Training and Qualifications.

Combining skills developed within my Masters of Social Work at the University of Calgary, I integrate years of experience facilitating personal transformations as a facilitator of wilderness expeditions with Outward Bound Canada, years of experience training others and facilitating healing through Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga, and years studying and applying Somatic Experiencing® as a practitioner. Walking with an ecocentric lens to life, wondering how to love the world, there are opportunities to integrate ceremony and ritual to include the more than human world with the non-linear path of reclaiming presence. I believe in the importance of connecting to the natural world, fostering a relationship with embodiment, working softer, and the wisdom within ones soul.

Private Movement Sessions.

Access Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) sessions, a treatment modality for Complex-Post Traumatic Stress.

A Mindful Movement (TCTSY) session is based on experiencing breath and movement, and can last 30 minutes to one hour. These services can be offered online to support to access if restricted by geography or can be done in person.  No physical assists are given, and participants are invited into a journey of discovery — a relationship with both their bodies and the present moment is nurtured by being offered choices throughout.

Individuals may self-refer, or access a referral through a clinician, counsellor, or therapist. Mindful Movement sessions are designed to be accessible for anyone, whether they are deepening an existing practice, or establishing one for the first time.

As a registered social worker (RSW), Mindful Movement sessions qualify for coverage with some health care insurance benefit packages.
